PHLEGM v8 SuperPET Firmware/Microcode Checkpoint
Timestamp: 2026-1007-1152-2087 (America/Phoenix)

Preserved state:
- SuperPET-9000 machine definitions and Motorola MC6809 definitions remain in the Developer Distribution.
- SuperPET firmware URLs use direct Zimmers.NET PET/SuperPET firmware paths.
- PET BASIC $B000 accepts both 901465-23 and 901465-19 images and provides both direct fetch URLs.
- microcode.lib remains the generic runtime micro-code engine; MC6809 instruction semantics remain data-defined in .phlegm.
- Generic FETCH16BE support is present.
- Generic big-endian 16-bit read/write operand and memory primitives are present.
- Generic alternate-stack-register byte and word primitives are present.
- Complementary PUSH16_LOHI / POP16_HILO primitives are present so 6809 stack byte order does not alter existing PUSH16_HILO / POP16_LOHI behavior used by other CPU families.
- PHLEGM.bas declarations and vm-exec.bi helpers required by these generic VM primitives are included.

Current next step:
- Add data-defined CPU micro-code macro expansion so M6809_* semantic shorthands expand from the MC6809 .phlegm definitions before numeric micro-code compilation, without hard-coding 6809 instructions into microcode.lib.

Validation status:
- Key modified text files are normalized to Windows CRLF.
- ZIP structural integrity verified after packaging.
- Native FreeBASIC compiler is not available in this container, so this checkpoint is a recoverable implementation checkpoint rather than a confirmed passing build.
